So I went to London MCM Expo last week (just for the Saturday) and let me tell you, it was awesome. The immensity of the setting and the passion of everyone there made it such a lovely time. Unfortunatley, I was too busy ogling everything in general to take too many pictures, but what I did take will be uploaded soon! So watch out!
As a first trip away from home without the parents, it went amazingly well. No kiddin'. We didn't miss our trains, navigated the underground successfully, used the bus system and all on a bank holiday weekend! So that was of course a bonus.
The highlight of the Saturday absoloutley had to be meeting the Merlin cast and going to the panel. It was all very poorly organized and there were lots of unhappy fans, and I mean lots! I saw some fans that had come all the way from America, just for this one function. Now THATS dedication. I thought I was dedicated, coming from halfway across the country!
Anyhow, firstly the queing and general information as to where we could recieve tickets for the Autographing by the Merlin panel was horrendous, although finally, we found out and joined the que at twenty to 10; 10 being the announced time for the giving out of tickets. At this point we became very worried as staff were counting the que, and we then found out that there was a limit on the amount of people who could get signings. *Que Horror*.
So we got tickets 95 and 96 out of 150, and we were so incredibly lucky. Really, I feel so bad for everyone who didn't get signings and I saw more than one person offering to buy them from the lucky ones!
Then the panel was packed! The seats were pretty bad, but hey I didn't really care because the panel was awesome. Really good- look out for videos/photos! And then the signing.... *sigh*
I was pretty starstruck and couldn't manage much more than a 'Hi', but I think all went well considering...
The rest of the day was spent rushing around looking for presents to take home, photoing awesome Hetalia cosplayers, seeing random things, flailing, recieving free hugs (from Daleks) and then to really make my day I found the best Rob Lucci cosplayer I have ever seen. Ever. As we left, we realised how much of the day we had missed due to the Merlin fandom, and saw the masses of cosplayers and con-goers outside, but it was worth it! I hope to be going again in October, and this time to have the guts to actually introduce myself to people and make new friends! ^^
